SANTA FE (2005-08-16) -- The fate of Wal-Mart Supercenter planned for Santa Fe has gotten a 30-day reprieve as planners go back to the drawing boards to resolve questions by City Council over traffic flow in and out of the development.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Tuesday its second-quarter profit rose 6 percent, beating Wall Street's earnings expectations but falling short of revenue forecasts as its customers continue to struggle with higher gasoline prices.
The Santa Fe City Council passed an affordable-housing overhaul late Monday and created a new affordable-housing office. However, the much-anticipated discussion on the Entrada Contenta development and the proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter went past midnight.

WASHINGTON - Labor Department investigators will review a $135,540 settlement the agency reached with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's biggest retailer, over accusations that it violated child labor laws.
PANAMA CITY, Florida - An appeals court has refused to reinstate class-action status for a lawsuit that sought to represent 230,000 Wal-Mart employees across Florida over allegations the company forced many of them to work without pay during breaks and after hours.

A Bernalillo County woman has sued Wal-Mart Stores for emotional distress, defamation, fraud and other reasons because she says she was unjustly fired by the company, even though store officials knew the reason for the dismissal was false. The lawsuit was filed in First Judicial District Court in Santa Fe by Albuquerque attorneys Shane Youtz and Gabrielle Valdez.
