Santa Fe is a beautiful place to get married, and it's simple to apply for a license. Both bride and groom need a driver's license or passport, and proof of Social Security numbers.
Without a photo I.D., an original birth certificate is required.
Both the bride and groom must be present to apply at the Santa Fe County Clerk's Office, 102 Grant Ave., 986-6281.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays.
The cost is $25 (cash only) and the license will never expire. Couples must be married in New Mexico, but do not need to be residents. If either participant is under 17 years old, he or she needs parental consent. There is no waiting period or blood test.
Couples are responsible for their own wedding arrangements. And in lieu of a rabbi or priest conducting the ceremony, the clerk's office will help you find a judge for the wedding.
