Santa Fe is a city of museums. Exhibits change constantly, so there's always something new to view. Many people get yearly passes to museums that charge for admittance.

Sundays, all New Mexico residents, free. Wednesdays, senior citizens 60 and older, free. A four-day pass for unlimited visits to the four Museums of New Mexico plus the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art, $15.
Yearly, single and family passes also are available. Friday nights from 5 to 8 p.m., anyone can attend the Palace of the Governors and Museum of Fine Arts for free. Information is available at

Museum of Spanish Colonial Art

This is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to Spanish-colonial art. The collection consists of more than 2,500 objects. There is a research and conservation center and a library with more than 1,000 books. Admission is $3 for New Mexico residents; $6 others; 16 and younger, free.

Open Thursday through Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., from November to June during the slow season; and open daily during the high season from July through October. In addition, the museum is open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, when admission is free. Admission is $8; $7 for seniors; $4 for New Mexico residents; students and youth get in free.

A Spanish-colonial living-history museum, 30 minutes from downtown. Prearranged tours available, open June to September for self-guided tours. Hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5; $4 for seniors and teens; $2 for children 5-12; free for children under 5. Festival admission is $7; $5 for teens; $3 for children 5-12; free under 5.
