New Mexico Domestic Violence Crisis And Support Resources A quick and easy list for shelters across the state.
The New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs (NMCSAP) More geared to legal and health care professionals, but still a good resource.
The Judicial Education Center Domestic Violence Homepage The JEC is a division of University of New Mexico law school's Institute of Public Law. This main link offers additional training and resources for legal professionals for domestic violence cases. If you're a victim, this is a powerful resource to know immediately your rights and protection under the law, as well as pages to prepare you if and when your circumstances move into the legal phase.
Among the pages you'll find here:
- The Domestic Violence Benchbook Provides information on the dynamics of domestic violence, explains the process governing orders of protection, describes how domestic violence can affect a variety of civil and criminal cases, and addresses pretrial, trial and sentencing issues.
- The Domestic Violence Virtual Trial presents video scenarios of attorneys and pro se parties engaged in proceedings that pose these and other problems typically found in domestic violence cases. Each scene is viewed from the perspective of the judge’s bench, and the judge’s own remarks appear as printed text. If you're a recent victim, you may find this too "close" ; on the other hand, if you feel overwhelmed or intimidated by courtroom proceedings, this resource may help demystify the process.
The New Mexico Corrections Department Victim Services Program provides information, assistance and support to crime victims and their families with concerns related to offenders who are in the custody or supervision of the New Mexico Corrections Department.
