Budget constraints slow space agency’s rocket-fast pace

Kindergarten teacher is raising money to teach children about math, science
Susan McIntosh didn’t wait. She formed a nonprofit in 2001 that sends retired teachers into the Santa Fe Public Schools to help teach hands-on science to elementary-school kids.
She teaches kindergarten by day and raises money for the nonprofit at night.

CARANCAS, Peru — When she heard the explosion, Isabel Junquilla said she was sure that war had broken out.
“We thought the Chileans were attacking,” Junquilla, 53, recalled Thursday, referring to Peru’s historic rival, Chile. “That’s what everyone was saying. It was very loud.”

TULAROSA — A contractor digging up a yard in Tularosa to find a leak in a sprinkler system found old bones instead.
The human remains, estimated to be up to 4,000 years old, were discovered earlier this month about 4 feet down in the front yard. The home’s owner, Bill Turner, called police, who contacted the Otero County sheriff, who called the medical examiner in Alamogordo.
