Introducing Esteban

Esteban is a very talented and big hearted man. His guitars and instruction are a gift to the planet. I have learned so much as a musician from him. My boyfriend now plays the guitar because of him. Some people are not about being cool, just being who they are, and sharing the gifts they have to the world. I think we should all be that brave. Santa Fe is in for a treat musically. Everyone should experience one of his shows. The music speaks for itself.

See, Bob, DNA doesn't go away when one moves, and the "cool-dar" is only in the DNA of those that are at least 13 generations here.  So newcomers that only have roots for a couple of hundred years, don't have the "cool-dar" in their DNA.

:+D

Actually, I have never heard Esteban live.  I'm still heartbroken over Ruben's death, so there is a void when it comes to good flamenco, but I wouldn't know if Esteban can fill it.

Yup, Bob, it's still home.  And for those that move away altogether too.  Familia, Dude, familia.

By the way, it's Laguna Beach, not Laguna Pueblo.

Sandy - I'm not envious of anyone ... it is the locals that are always complaining about the "rich outsiders" that have taken over the town. I am doing quite well here, thank you.

PC - Is that us locals in Laguna or Santa Fe? Do part-time locals count?

I have to admit that I had never heard of "Esteban" prior to his infomercials and I formed my opinion based on that, and I loathe infomercials. I also did not have a high opinion of the instruments being hawked.

The more I hear from him about his enthusiasm for music, and now art, the more I think he'll be a good citizen to have in Santa Fe. I plan to check out his gallery, and wish him well.

there are artists on Canyon Road???

Wow! That's news to me...

We don't have to define anything, Bob Charles.  Only you do.  When it comes to people moving here, us locals have a "cool-dar" to detect with.

Hey! I like to party with the young trust-fund babies!!  Much better food and drink.

You just sound envious.

By Bob Charles (Submitted: 08/01/2007 1:15 pm)
Now we're going to have to define cool, too? Are the artists on Canyon road all cool? Even if they are trust-fund babies?

Mr. Bower, I'm curious too.  I've been known to bang a little on the axe myself and I think Maestro Segovia would roll over in his grave if he knew part of his legacy was been sold on the Home Shopping Network.

Got it, PC, and Never lived in amerillo. and i've always wondered the same thing, damon...

I agree with PC. As long as Esteban doesn't turn out to be a royal "blah, blah, blah" like a certain actress known to roam "barefoot on the plaza," he's cool with me.

OT, Ali MacGraw and Mr. Hackman are my favorite honorary New Mexicans. :)

Has anyone ever used this guy's instructional videos?  I saw the commercial a couple of months back, but have held off to this point...

Jimmy, cool people are always welcome.  If this guy isn't cool, you'll hear the blah-blah-blah.

Jimmy....you didn't by chance ever live in Amarillo, did you?

By Jimmy Green (Submitted: 08/01/2007 11:23 am)
What? Nothing from the peanut gallery about an "outsider coming into santa fe and doing his own thing...", blah, blah, blah? Where are you all this morning?
