Scientology church’s mark inscribed in N.M. desert scrub

Now that the Church of Scientology's Religious Technology Center has re-re-re-issued L. Ron Hubbard's "Basics" books in 2007 – claiming "now" that everything is really – no, really – authentic and verified as to what The Old Man wanted (some 50 years after he was first publishing his works) – does this mean that all the titanium tablets will have to be re-done?!

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to have workers' wages garnisheed if they refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans. The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed during a television interview, she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

HERE'S AN ISSUE !!!
Hillary's Health Care Plan Would Create 47 Million 'Universal' Law Breakers !

BEWARE !!! Hillary's so-called 'Universal' Health Care Plan is to make it AGAINST THE LAW FOR ANYONE TO NOT BUY THEIR OWN HEALTH INSURANCE (LIKE AUTO INSURANCE)That's not health care....that's just a law (that's what mandate means) !!!!! Under Hillary's health care plan everyone who breaks her law and does not buy their own health coverage (if not offered through their job) would be fined and wages could be garnished. Also, everyone would have to prove that they already have health insurance (show an insurance policy) before they could get a new job if that new job does not offer coverage. If people could afford health care they would have it already! To make it a mandatory law will just make people who are unable to afford the coverage (could be $300-$400 per month/per person) afraid to go to the hospital when seriously ill in fear of getting caught breaking the law (without coverage). Then we'll end up with millions of people simply hiding the fact that they don't have coverage....instead of receiving the true health care they need. TERRIBLE !!! DON'T BE FOOLED AMERICA !!!!!

"All Americans Would be required by law to purchase health insurance" reports CBS News Chief White House correspondent Jim Axelrod.

PEOPLE ACROSS AMERICA NEED TO KNOW THIS ABOUT HILLARY'S PLAN. PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE FACTS !!!

BEWARE !!!!

To those of you who have friends or relatives that are illegal!

Clinton opposes illegal immigrants driver's license!

If immigrants are not given driver's licenses they will be forced to break the law!

And since it's a crime to break the law, if caught you are exempt from a path to citizenship!

This will forever ban you for being a U.S. citizen!

This is the best way to deport you!

Obama believes that those who blame immigrants for job losses and low wages are using latinos as scapegoats.
Clinton on the other hand believes that latinos are in part responsible for job losses and low wages!

Obviously Obama is the best choice for latinos if you want to stop the blame on latinos.

SAY no to scapegoating!

SI SE PUEDE! SI SE PUEDE! SI SE PUEDE!

I’ve been a land surveyor for over 30 years and a geologist before that. While working in Utah in 1977, I was driving to a survey job in the Aneth oil fields on the White Mesa reservation when we came to a road block set up by tribal members protesting the impact of the well fields on their health and quality of life. Listening to the stories and seeing the faces of the folks from this destitute southern Utah tribe describing the conditions they faced has stayed with me ever since.
But this was the voice of a poor and powerless group that did not resonate beyond the reservation and, as far as I know, Texaco continued its program unabated (without my help, after that). Santa Fe County has a voice with much more resonance due to its wealth and fame.
Gov. Richardson has said that in his judgment “there shouldn’t be drilling in the Galisteo Basin…very fragile ecosystem that has archaeological and groundwater issues.” He is without a doubt right about this and more study is warranted. Whatever safeguards can be provided for Santa Fe County residents should be understood and put in place.
But what about the rest of New Mexico? Aztec Ruins Nat’l Monument in San Juan County has 35 active drilling sites within 5 miles, and the venerable World Heritage site of Chaco Canyon has 5 active but non producing lease sites within 5 miles (source:EWG.org). Last March State Land Commissioner Patrick Lyons stopped Cimarex Energy from drilling gas wells on state trust land within one mile of Chaco Canyon Nat’l Monument. And these sites are just the obvious ones. There are thousands of archeological sites all over the state that lie within lease boundaries.
And moreover, aren’t all the people in San Juan County who have been living with this industry for over 80 years just as worthy of the protection of their environment and groundwater as we are in Santa Fe County? Actually, shouldn’t any safeguards put in place in Santa Fe County be applied to all lease lands in NM?
This would mean that environmental and economic protections must be considered in conjunction with the fact that by 2003, as a New Mexico Resources “Extractive Energy Resources” report states, New Mexico was “ranking fifth in crude oil production and fourth in proven oil reserves. It remains second as a domestic producer of natural gas” in the US. In 1998 according to another similar NMR EER report, “90% of state lands revenue and 25% of the total NM general fund is generated by oil and gas”. These are powerful numbers. However, they shouldn’t supersede protecting the quality of life in New Mexico.
Also, the antiquated 1872 Mining Law, the main reason citizens are mostly powerless in leasing situations, is finally being addressed by HR2262 in the US House of Representatives (Udall for, Wilson and Pearce against). More information regarding HR2262 can be found at Earthworksaction.org.

Richardson says he'll 'do the right thing'

By John Lanning (Submitted: 10/24/2007 10:46 pm)
When Wild Bill first became gov I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and to support him, because he did in fact appear genuine and that he would lead with a good heart, and of a mind not swayed by that of money and power. He preached a good line: that he would lead by simply ''doing the right thing'', and I gave him that chance along with many others. My support and my belief in Bill today has waned to that of nothing but disappointment and of disbelief in the man of even knowing what the ''right thing'' is, let alone being capable of doing it. Case in point and in tune with the base of the article I am responding to. would be Illegal Immigration. Bill claims to be standing tall and bucking others of different mind of subject, and to be ''doing the right thing'' with his stance on support of the defunct amnesty bill. In my humble but none the less well founded belief and understanding of Illegal Immigration, Bill wouldn't know the right thing about it if it bit him in the butt, as it bites us all each and every day!
Bill states that he is not in support of ''deporting everyone'', and instead chooses a much more ''rightful'' way of doing things, by ''fines'' and by ''charging'' those who are here and those later to come, large sums of money. He is also in favor of hiring even more Border Patrol than the thousands which we have already hired and placed along to this border in the foolish attempt to solve a problem by force which did not even exist, before this force was wrongly accepted as the ''answer''several years ago. Bill and his desire to add more Border Patrol and more force to this border, while levying fines and charges of large sums of money against those already here Illegally and of those which will most certainly make it past all of his Border Patrol, no matter how many more he hires, is nothing short of a double edged sword at the throats of those Illegal Aliens, as too the American taxpayer who of course will in the end as always, pick up the bill for it all. Bill also claims to be against the building of the disgraceful fence which is being constructed along our border. However he has sat idly by while miles of this fence has already been build right here along the border at Columbus. ( For those which have not personally seen this monster I suggest you find the time and to come view what Bill has allowed to be placed here.) Bill speaks with a forked tongue.
In closing: Illegal Immigration is a very complex subject, and one which cannot easily be understood by reading of books and that of news paper articles. It also cannot be understood nor appreciated by ''a trip to the border'', and to be led around by the Border Patrol, as our gov Bill and the Senators and Congressmen so often partake in. I'd strongly suggest that Bill first learn what the ''right thing'' is, before claiming that he's doing it.

Foster-care shortage

By Ted Wilson (Submitted: 10/24/2007 7:11 am)
My daughter was kidnapped by CYFD & was placed in “care” of Eddie Grose. During 34 days in the “care”, my diabetic daughter was in grave danger. She was fed high carbohydrate breakfasts, lunches & sometimes dinner. If she was not up by a certain time, she was given a multi-grain bar, with no protein, which is dangerous for a diabetic. Then on many occasions, the people were out for the day & lunch consisted of dried apples & another multi-grain bar, again, very dangerous for a diabetic. Then, if the people were late in getting home, the dinner was the same. Many people think milk is an excellent food item, but the lactose can be dangerous to a diabetic. Eddie Grose was told by the dietician that milk was okay once in a while, but my daughter was forced to drink milk at every meal, raising her blood glucose levels to dangerous levels.
My daughter went a total of 4 days not being able to take readings because she ran out of test strips & the Grose’s “didn’t want to bother anyone” by calling the 24 hour emergency line to get a new supply. Another time, the insulin vial cracked, affecting the potency of the insulin & even possibly contaminating the insulin. Instead of calling the 24 hour line, they forced my daughter to use the insulin until the next day. On 3 occasions, my daughter’s meter was left in Edgewood while going to Santa Fe for her visits with me. CYFD was informed each time of these & only told me that they needed to properly train their foster parents, without even acknowledging the danger my daughter was in.
My daughter witnessed the Grose’s 3 year old grandson imitating his grandfather, Bill, by walking around cursing. He was held down & hot sauce was poured into his mouth. He was not allowed to spit it out or rinse his mouth for a brief period. My daughter witnessed other occasions where the Grose’s would take a neighbor boy into the bathroom & spank him with a hairbrush. She witnessed the Grose’s stepdaughter, Vern (Veronica) picking up and dropping an infant in the Grose’s care. Vern also would tell a 3 year old foster child to come put her hand down Vern’s pants. Sometimes the girl did and sometimes she didn’t. Either way, Vern told on the girl, who would then be scolded. When my daughter told what really happened, she was told to shut up and mind her own business.
The Grose’s adult children tried to argue with my daughter about when to take readings. My daughter would tell them she needed to take a reading, but would not be allowed because “it’s not the right time.” After arguing for up to 20 minutes, they would give in. If a diabetic has certain feelings, they must take a reading, as the blood glucose levels could be low & the person could go into a coma. Most of the time, she was low, thereby endangering her safety. There were times that Eddie Grose would leave the house with my daughter’s meter, leaving her unable to take a reading. There was at least 40 times that her readings were so high or so low, that the Grose’s were required to contact the clinic to find out what to do, but no calls were ever made. When the readings were low, my daughter was supposed to take 15 grams of a simple carb & test again after 15 minutes & repeat every 15 minutes until she was within an acceptable level; but this never occurred.
Bill Grose was very verbally abusive and cursed a lot. He yelled at my daughter and called her names when she tried to correct the Grose’s on acceptable readings & insulin doses, even though they knew almost nothing of what they were doing. When she took the amounts the Groses told her, she would later still be at a high level or would drop dangerously low. When she did what she thought was right, more often than not, she would get back to an acceptable level.
When she was first taken into custody, she was told that she had a certain amount of money to spend to get things. Later that night at bed time, she said she needed a toothbrush & the Groses told her that she spent her allotment and if she didn’t buy a toothbrush, that was too bad. She went the entire time without brushing her teeth, because the Groses refused to buy her one. She was only allowed 3 showers and was not allowed to wash herself any other time, as it wasted water. She was not allowed to fix her hair, as there weren’t any supplies to fix it up with.
The Groses come across as a family that is really only concerned about the money that comes in and not about the children. Every incident of neglect with the meter can be proven & was addressed to CYFD, but was ignored. A call was made to Central Intake, but was screened out by Linda Craven-Rodriguez, as it didn’t meet the criteria to pursue a complaint.

I have solid proof that CYFD didn’t have just cause to take my daughter, that they were only doing this out of spite and retaliation because I had filed complaints against inappropriate actons by CYFD in a previous investigation in which they found that the complaint was unsubstantiated, but then told me they did everything not to take my daughter during the first complaint.

Topic: CYFD Kidnaps Children
CYFD is a ruthless vindictive organization that uses heresay, innuendo and even lies to attack parents and children that wish to complain against the arrogant self-centered investigators and case workers. They do not fully invesitgate a complaint, but automatically assume that a complaint from certain people must be true. They do not even look into positive comments or references about a person. They don't even allow a parent to disprove the information, even after the child has been taken. The parent is told that if they try to prove their innocence, it will be bad news for them and the child. They threaten the children to try and force the child to make negative comments about the parent. CYFD employees become rude and belligerent, but nothing is done. CYFD and the foster caregivers fail to show for appointments, but fail to notify as to why. The foster caregivers and CYFD are ignorant of medical needs of children and allow the medical condition to worsen, even though they admit that they don't know what they are doing. They excuse verbal, physical and emotional abuse of the children, because the foster garegivers have a license from CYFD.
Now Playing: The incompetence of Espanola Schools
Topic: CYFD Kidnaps Children
At the beginning of the school year, I mentioned my daughter was diabetic and her pediatrician was writing up a “504” Plan for her. The administration at JHR at that time said the district preferred to use “Health Management Plans”. I mentioned I was more comfortable with a “504” and was told that was ok. The documents were provided to the school and I was told that the “504” would be followed.

After providing the documents to the school, I was told the kitchen staff was having problems interpreting the plan. I was told they were there at 7:00 and I could just go in and talk to them. I went to them and told them there were no restrictions from the menu and that the plan required protein at every breakfast. Later that day, I called the school because my daughter’s sugars had been running a bit high. I was informed by Paula, school nurse, that the kitchen staff still had questions about the plan. I explained the plan only listed concentrated sugars as a restriction, and since the new health management plan banned those from schools, that meant there we re no restrictions from the menu.

A few days later, my daughter informed me that the kitchen staff tried to deny her some strawberries because they said it was too much sugar. I again went to the kitchen the next day to clarify if this was true and they said it was. I told them there were no restrictions according to the “504” and that they were not allowed to deny her any foods on the menu. Ms. Martinez told me Ms. Lara had told them that sugar was not good for diabetics. She also said Ms. Lara told them what my daughter was or was not allowed to eat. I told them Ms. Lara had no legal right to give this information, as she was neither a licensed nutritionist, nor a doctor. I also told them this plan came from a licensed nutritionist and a doctor and they know more than did Ms. Lara, the kitchen staff and I; and since I trusted the people who developed the plan, everyone needed to follow what was listed. Ms. Lara told me that she had only given the advice to the kitchen staff as a general statement and it wasn’t meant to tell them what to allow my daughter to eat. I also expressed concern that my daughter was telling me that the staff was not supplying protein for breakfast. Ms. Martinez from the kitchen told me they were giving it to her about 3 times per week. When I told them it was supposed to be every day, they said they would do that. Even as of today, my daughter claims it’s not happening. During the meeting, six times, Ms. Lara kept pronouncing my name as Day-jo and my daughter as Day-zha. I kept correcting her and she just laughed as if it was a funny thing. After the sixth time, I told her that this was proof as her lack of respect for my daughter and myself, as she can’t pronounce our names correctly and took my offense as something funny!!

A few days later, September 18, Ms. Lara started as the principal. On September 26, I called to ask if the school was attending the district wide cross country run the next day. She told me that this was the first she had heard of it and it was too late to provide transportation to the high school. I told her my daughter would be late to school that next day and she said she encouraged that participation. I also told her I had talked to the league director for the elementary school basketball league, and he gave me permission to use girls cut from the JHR program, as my school only had a total of six girls in the sixth grade. She said that would be ok, but the league director had to call her. I told her the league director worked at East Middle and she told me she knew who he was and if he wanted our school to have the players from JHR, he had to contact her. The league director later told me that it took him several phone calls and visits before he ever talked with her. He told me to type up permission slips for the school to distribute, which I did. My daughter took them to the school and it was over a week later, she told me that the assistant principal handed them to her to hand out to the girls. A few days later, Del told me he called the school and was told by the secretary that the school had delivered them to all of the 4th-6th Grade girls. I informed the league director this was not true. The girls’ coach from my school even called to see if he could visit to talk with the girls. He was told to stop by. Every time he did, he was told that Ms. Lara was not in or in a conference. The assistant principal told him that she did not have the authority to allow him to meet with the girls, only Ms. Lara could do that. When I talked to the league director, he asked me if she kept trying to bring the conversation back to her ankle and getting away form the topic at hand. I told him that he was on the nail about that. Ms. Lara told me the reason the school gave the flyers back to my daughter was because my daughter told her that she was proud of me trying to develop the program at the another school. My daughter’s response to me that night was that she was tired of waiting and if she had to wait for Ms. Lara to hand them out, the season would have been long over.

Ms. Lara also mentioned to me that she had been meaning to call me to meet with me as it was important to discuss the diabetes. We scheduled an appointment for that Friday after my school at 12:00. Friday morning the secretary at my school came to my class to inform me the meeting had been cancelled and that I needed to call back to reschedule. This upset me, as Ms. Lara was the one that asked for the meeting, but then she expected me to call back to reschedule, especially with her attitude that Del had to call her about the basketball team. However, I did call several times to talk with her, only to be told that she was in a meeting or out of the building and she would call me back as soon as she received the message. I called about 3-5 times per week and was always told the same thing. A couple of weeks later, a message was received at my school telling me a meeting had been set up for Wednesday at 1:30 or 2:00. I called the school and said my principal had given me clearance to attend. That day I called to tell the school I was on my way, only to be told the meeting had to be cancelled and I needed to call to reschedule. I did this again several times, with no return calls. On October 27, I called the school again, only to be told the same thing, again. The secretary told me she would give Ms. Lara the mes sage and she would return my call. I informed the secretary to include in the message that I was going to call the Superintendent’s office to arrange a meeting. 10 minutes later, I received a call from Ms. Lara. When I talked to her I told her that I was upset that in the 5 ½ weeks since we first talked, she had never once returned any of my calls to set up the meeting. She only said that she was calling me now. I told her if this meeting was really that important, she would not have waited until I told the secretary that I was calling the superintendent to set up the meeting. She didn’t apologize, but only said that her job is very hectic and she had been very busy. I was also concerned about her telling the kitchen staff what my daughter was or was not allowed to eat. She replied that the staff had asked her what in general were diabetics allowed to eat and she told them. I told her that the staff took her statements as being the authority and that she had given advice that legally she was not allowed to give. I also explained that altering the plan based on their own initiative was a civil rights violation; Ms. Lara told me she wasn’t concerned about civil rights, but my daughter’s health; to which I replied that I was concerned about both! When I met with Dr. Salazar and Ms. Lara, I raised my concern over the school not following the “504”, to which Dr. Salazar told me that she was the “504” officer and since she hadn’t met with me about this, then it wasn’t a “504”. I expressed concern that when my daughter was enrolled that I was told that the document I provided was the “504”. I also expressed concern that I was not informed by the school that if I wanted this to be a “504”, I had to ask for a meeting. Dr. Salazar said it was my responsibility to ask for the hearing, not the District to tell me that was the procedure. Then she said that we had to meet so she could decide which parts of the plan the District chose to follow.

I expressed concern over Ms. Lara’s failure to return any of my calls over 5 ½ weeks, to which Dr. Salazar told me that it was over and I should forget that and start fresh. I told them that with the short history of her failure to call, her giving illegal advice and not being able to pronounce my name or my daughter’s name correctly, Ms. Lara had to earn my trust and respect. They produced a 504 plan that was from back in March and was obsolete. I told them that and that they needed to get rid of it. Ms. Lara said she wanted to keep it, as she wanted to learn how, when and how long my daughter had been diabetic; to which I replied that information was not any of her business.

She told me that I needed to hire a sitter to pick my daughter up from school, even though I told her twice in this meeting that I could not afford to hire someone and that I didn’t know anyone in Espanola and found it difficult to have a stranger taking care of my daughter.

My daughter did miss a few days- 3 for doctor’s appointments for diabetes; 4 because I was sick in bed for those days; a few ½ days- 1 which was the district wide elementary cross country meet at EVHS and she was representing Rodriguez Elementary and she was marked ½ day, probably the only student at the meet that was. She also was invited by Santa Clara Day School to participate in their Halloween Fun Run. She competed for Espanola 5 times in cross country and again was the only student in attendance at these meets marked absent for ½ day. She did attend 4 meets as team manager for the Military Academy and was marked for ½ day. I explained to Ms. Lara & Dr. Salazar that there is no one to pick my daughter up from school and I didn’t know anyone well enough. I had an issue with a sitter where a person I knew well was doing this and more than once picked her up an hour after school was out. At this point, I’d rather she miss ½ day, rather than sit on the playground waiting for a ride or have CYFD called as me being negligent.

I made sure everyone of her absences had academics involved and I offered if need be, I could write up a schedule and a lesson plan for those days; as well as the standards and benchmarks achieved. But I was told that she had to be in school to attend to her lessons, but she had experiences that were academic, but not in the classroom. My daughter did math work, reading and social studies whenever she was not in school.

I think this woman is self-centered and arrogant. She feels everyone needs to cater to her and she is above calling people back; it is their job to call her. She is disturbed because she isn’t in control of the situation with my daughter’s diabetes. She is stifled by the fact that the doctor and dietician are in charge of what my daughter is allowed to eat or not. She is nosy about other people’s business. The entire staff I’ve dealt with, except Paula, the nurse came, across as rude and uncaring.

An incident occurred early in the year when the substitute nurse on Thursdays relayed her opinion that disagreed with a doctor’s note.

The school secretary refused to allow my daughter into the nurse’s office to get a diabetic meter. My daughter had to run across to the park to get the classroom keys, return to the room to get her meter and take a reading. She reported back to the secretary that her reading was low and she needed sugar; to which the secretary replied, “I’m too busy right now.” When I went to pick her up, her reading had been in the 40’s, dangerously low!! The secretary told me she had called over to Los Ninos to talk to the substitute nurse, who had told her to call back after the reading for instructions. When the secretary called over with the reading, the nurse had left. Then the secretary told me that my daughter had flitted across the street, so my daughter wasn’t taking the matter seriously. I told her that my daughter was going to get her other meter; because she was refused access to the nurse’s office. I also explained that when my daughter told her that she needed sugar and the secretary was too busy. The secretary told me that she was dealing with other students and didn’t have time. When I explained that with a reading in the 40’s, a person could go into a coma, her attitude was nonchalant!

My daughter received an “A” on her progress report, but an “F” on the report card for social studies. The teacher never called me to let me know about this. I also called 6-7 times when my daughter told me that when she missed school, she asked for the homework, turned it in the next day, but received a “0” for late work, but never received any calls back. She told me she was not allowed to make it up. She also told me that the students that left to take Tewa classes failed because they were ditching class; and now my daughter is taking Tewa. When I talked to this teacher, she refused to talk to me and asked me how I know she received any messages I called, then hung up the phone!

Mr. Snyder put on the report card that my daughter is easily distracted and lazy! Referring to a student as lazy to the parent is unprofessional and unacceptable. He also didn’t call me when the math grade went from 75% to 65%. I even had left messages to see if the science grade was improving, but never received any calls back!
Richardson calls for focus on poverty, overpopulation

Eli, I can believe that 200,000 New Mexicans are receiving food stamp assistance, but I wonder about the statement you made about food banks.

Please provide a reference.

Bill Richardson should be ashamed of himself for not taking care of the Poor New Mexican.  Over 200,000 New Mexicans depend on food banks on a daily basis to feed their families.  Richardson's Presidential Campaign is going nowhere in his election bid, however, it appears that Richardson's Campaign is a money campaign that is supported by his Appointed State Employees.  What is Richardson going to do with the Dinero when his Ego Trip is over?  Will Richardson hire Gerald Peters as a consultant?  Eli Chavez, Progressive Independent

‘Boss’ built thriving school music program

By kel tru (Submitted: 10/19/2007 9:54 am)

I was lucky enough to be directed by "Boss" during his last years at Santa Fe High School. He ran the marching band like a drill sergeant and demanded respect and dicipline from all of his students. Most of my fondest memories from high school revolve around band activities. "Boss" was highly respected and liked and will be missed dearly. My deepest condolences to his wife and family.

Protesters to ramp up rally at Columbus Day Parade

By Mary Crow (Submitted: 10/05/2007 12:17 pm)
Phil and Steve: You both brought up great points. And speaking of Guy Fawkes: I personally think we should start a new tradition of burning Columbus in efegy. You know in Ireland, people justifiably get mad when the Orangemen come tromping through their nieghborhoods, glorifying the attrocities of William the Orange and Oliver Cromwell. I think what some people aren't getting here is that this parade and the celebration of Columbus Day is a celebration of a horrible greedy man paving the way for thousands more horrible greedy men to commit attrocities on innocent people. It's like celebrating the bombing of Baghdad in downtown Baghdad. If not appaling, it's at least just plain tacky and low-class. Italians can celebrate their heritage in a much better way than this. Geez.

CM Williams - don't be such a dolt!  Yes, the Readers' Blogs were offline, this morning, as well - during the first round of trials.  I haven't started getting cranky, yet.

This will not be an easy transition.  They rarely are.  The online crew probably gets a $1.94 budget from El Jefa.

OTOH - if you're that timorous, maybe you should leave.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, I believe bringing back the old-fashioned traffic patrol, and adding more officers to fill it, can prevent a lot of these brazen break-ins in the City's portion of Santa Fe County.  It appears that Sheriff Solano's stepping up of patrols is making a difference, and we need to do the same, but we need more officers to do it right.

City councilors, work on staffing up the SFPD beyond what has been pledged so far, and make the pay and benefits package top-of-the-line.  Significant, predictable police presence on the streets is a strong deterrent to this type of crime and sends a message that we aren't going to allow this nonsense to continue.

City and County officials should also hold a joint study session on the problem immediately, and then finance coordinated law enforcement efforts between SFPD and the County Sheriff's Department.  It's a regional problem, and it will only get worse if we don't hit it hard now.

How about "stepping up patrols", to get rid of some of the drug punks in this town. Alot of them can probably be spotted by the cars they drive.

Gosh Amanda Olsen, that is quite a suggestion! At the moment It would seem to be poetic justice and it is quite an appealing thought. State’s flu shots have mercury options

Well, isn't this great? Progress all over the place! When Dr. Kenneth Stoller, Pediatrician and New Mexico's most stalwart opponent of Thimerosal/Mercury as a neurodegenerative toxin and cause of Autism, and I several years ago cordially confronted the Secretary of Health at that time about these very issues, Michelle Lujan Grisham, J.D., all we got was scoffing, contempt, and denials that Thimerosal/Mercury was harmful. This was, as I recall, at Lt. Governor Denish's Children's Cabinet meeting, with about 7 cabinet members present each talking with constituents about many other things. (So what has happened, pray tell, to those great Children's Cabinet meetings, anyway?)

I was shocked, really totally shocked, by the very thorough ignorance and indifference on this issue, not only from the Secretary Herself, but from the apparatchiks and drones with M.D.'s who sycophantically panderingly agreed with her and acted generally totally oblivious, even denying about what we were talking about, almost to the point of throwing out all of our statistics and implying that we were no more than paranoids and even liars!

Times have changed (perhaps) and people (maybe) are getting smarter about the obvious folly of shooting up a two week old child or a ten year old child with ten vaccinations, all of which have mercury, for what purpose: as a preservative, as an antibiotic, or as a "filler." Only a few lobbyist dummies representing mercury mining and dull organizations opposed to changing anything in vaccines for children combined in the past two or three years to shut out so much as a Resolution to get rid of Mercury in vaccines in New Mexico.

The whole ghastly story with Eli Lilly 's developing Thimersal 60 years ago, knowing full well it had killed a bunch of neuroligically disabled inmates of a mental hospital near Washington D.C., is too long for this comment, or any ancillary observations and comparisons about lobbyists keeping Aspartame/Methanol/Formaldehyde/Diketopiperazine on sale in the Land of Enchantment. Maybe the author of this New Mexican story, Diane Del Mauro, could look it up and write about it for those who are too indifferent or lazy to do their own Internet research.

I commend Dr. Alfredo Vigil, the present NM Secretary of Health, for moving in the right direction.! Now we can almost do a blind-on-blind study comparing the human guinea pigs forced (or duped) into ingesting mercury in their vaccines, and those who don't or won't (except for the minor factor that most of the most injurable of these human guinea pigs are under two years of age but the damage will show up so much faster in them!} Should be quite a comparison, I predict, especially in the statistics for long range mental retardation, autism, severe personality disorders, diminished intellectual achievement and other consequences of Thimerosal/Mercury.

Too bad Dr. Gary King, Ph. D., hasn't taken on the mercury adders to vaccines and doesn't seem to even want to take that one on. That should be eventually worth billions, and Federal Appelate Courts ruling in the past few years that parents of injured children can indeed sue vaccine manufactuers for damage done to their children.

Aside from talking with Dr. Stoller directly, the best thing you could do is google Robert F. Kennedy's Attack on Mothers article, on the sad but avoidable neurological impairment resulting from Mercury/Thimerosal on one small boy. If that doesn't horrify the reader into refusing mercury henceforth, Heaven Help You...

Faught: Shortfall won’t slow rail

By dan baker (Submitted: 10/04/2007 5:44 pm)
Eric, the RailRunner the WRONG solution to a problem that doesnt exist.

Mass transit COULD reduce traffic and pollution, neither of which is 'that bad' here. Not that we shouldn't address it, but there is no reason to over build with a bad solution.
Commuters want to get somewhere fast, this train won't.
Tourists might want between two cool places or some scenic ride.... the landscape between santa fe and albuquerque barely qualifys. We HAVE a cool scenic train now that goes between Santa Fe-Lamy, which can't break even.... so I don't see the RailRunner bringing 'billions' of revenue, or coming close to break even for that matter.

Even if you filled every seat on the train, it would lose millions in operating expenses, and I seriously doubt very many tourists would make a special trip to albuquerque just to ride the train. Your great great grandfather worked on a train when the alternative was a horse.... not a bus.
