Now you can read the complete Santa Fe New Mexican on your computer -- and it looks just like the printed newspaper. You can scan each page, and zoom in on each article and advertisement, comic strip and puzzle. And, it's searchable.

Visit www.enewmexican.com to read the daily paper, and www.epasatiempo.com to read Pasatiempo, our weekly magazine of arts, culture and entertainment.

  1. To read an article or ad: Click on it! One left click will enlarge it in its own window. Sometimes ads have more than one clickable region.

  2. You can adjust the size even more by clicking View at the top of the article window.

  3. Turn the page: you can usually move your cursor to the top right or left corner until you see the animation of a page corner being bent back. Or look for the dark gray arrowheads at the left and right of the background.

  4. To go directly to a specific page, type it in the window at the top (A-1, or C-3, etc.) and just hit Enter on your keyboard. The little arrow next to the page number window just advances you one page at a time.

  5. Looking for something specific? Use the Search button at the upper right to search the current issue or back a few issues--articles or ads.

  6. To read previous issues, click on the date at the upper left. All available issues are listed.

  7. What's not included: TV Book, Parade, advertising inserts and other separately-bound sections, such as the monthly Real Estate Guide, Indian Market guide, etc. We hope to make these available at a later date.

At the top of every eNewMexican page, you'll see a tool bar. From left to right, here are the details:

  1. Date: The date that shows is the most recent issue. To select a different day's issue, move your cursor over the date. A list of available issues will appear. Click on the desired date.

  2. Sections: Move your cursor over the word to reveal a list of some popular sections of the paper. Click on your favorite section to jump to the first page of that section.

  3. Page Size: Click on this to see a list of page sizes. Larger sizes may be easier to scan, but will take longer to load.

  4. Features: Search is described below. MyCollection allows you to save articles and return to them later, even after the issue is no longer available. MyPaper allows you to choose which sections or topics you want to jump to directly, without having to go page by page. Preferences allows you to set page and text size, among other attributes, so that eNewMexican is always the way you like it.

  5. Page Selection: You have a choice of several different ways to "turn" the pages. You can move forward or back by using the tiny arrows at each side of the page number display in the tool bar; by using the larger arrows about halfway down in the background area to the left and right of the page; you can move your cursor to the upper right or left corner of the page, where an animation of a corner turning back will appear. Click on it to move to the next page. (The animation doesn't show in all browsers.) Finally, you can type the page number directly in the page number window, in the form "A-1." Just press Enter on your keyboard to jump to the page.

  6. Search: Use the Search button to pop up a window that will allow you to type a key word or two. Select whether you want to search the text of articles or of advertisements, and whether you want to search the current issue or all the available issues.

  7. Page Size - Quick Icons: An alternative way to select page size, by choosing the "zoom in" (+) or "zoom out" (-) icons. The middle icon returns the page size to your default setting.

  8. That's it for the tool bar. We'll add details on more features soon.
