If you would like to see an article on someone you know, contact the assistant editor of the section, Todd Bailey, 986-3088. Among the sections within Neighbors are “Faces & Places,” “Milestones” and “Service Notes.” The New Mexican also welcomes birth announcements.

“Faces & Places” items are achievements by local community members, such as scholarships, dean’s-list honors or club elections. “Milestones” are wedding, engagement and anniversary announcements. “Service Notes” are the achievements of military service people.

Submissions must contain some local connection — for instance, if your daughter is married in Seattle, but you live in Santa Fe, we will print the announcement — and must be reasonably recent.

Photographs are welcome. You may submit original hard copies and/or electronic versions, such as jpeg, tif and gif files. If you wish to have your photograph returned, please print your address on the back.

Self-addressed, stamped envelopes are appreciated. The New Mexican is not responsible for lost or unreturned photographs. There is no submission fee and all entries are printed as soon as space is available.

Obituaries: Obituaries are handled through the Classified Advertising Department, 986-3000 or email Word document and digital photo to classad@sfnewmexican.com. The deadline to publish an obituary Tuesday through Friday is 3 p.m. the day before publication. If the obituary includes a photograph, the deadline is 2 p.m. The deadline is 4 p.m. on Friday for Saturday, Sunday and Monday newspapers.

The Editorial Department will run a death notice if the Classified Advertising deadline has passed or if the family cannot afford a paid obituary. Death notices include the name of the deceased, the immediate family and service information only. Call the City Desk, 505-986-3035, for information.

The City Desk also decides when The New Mexican will run a news obituary.
